Evidence-informed therapy approaches, delivered online

Dr. Ricardo Gillispie, PhD, LCSW draws on established therapy models that can translate well to online sessions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on identifying unhelpful thought patterns and practicing new ways of responding, which can be useful when stress, anxiety, depression, or life transitions start to feel overwhelming. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) emphasizes practical skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and improving relationships, offering structure for people who want step-by-step tools they can apply between sessions. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps clients notice difficult thoughts and feelings without getting stuck in them, while taking actions that align with personal values, which can support motivation and resilience during challenging seasons.

Because people and goals differ, the best approach is not always obvious at the start. Dr. Gillispie works collaboratively, helping clients clarify what they want to change, what has and has not worked before, and what style of therapy feels most helpful, then adjusting the plan as therapy unfolds.

Online therapy also makes it easier to get consistent support in a format that fits day-to-day life. Clients can meet with Dr. Gillispie by video calls or phone sessions, and can also use live chat or text-based messaging when that level of flexibility is a better match.
